Creating Products

Overview

Products are a means of selling a service or item online. There are various types of products available to you in Zenbership, each with its own purpose.

Types of Products

Creating a Product

Regardless of which type of product you are creating, you will need to click on "Product" from the "Quick AddAdditional InformationThe quick add menu is located in the primary navigation bar. It is a green icon with a white plus sign." menu to get started. Once you have loaded the product creation popup, a number of fields will become available to you. Here is a breakdown of the various fields:

The fields on this page depend on the type of product you select. Please see the appropriate article for the correct product type of a full discussion.

Options

Product options allow you to specify things like "color" or "size".

So for example, in the above image we create two product options: Size and Color. The user purchasing this product will be able to select their desired options from the shopping cart.

Options also allow you to specify price and weight adjustments, as well as stock. In the above example, there are 10 "Red" shirts in stock. Purchasing a "Red" shirt instead of a "Blue" shirt would adjust the price in the cart by $10.00.

In similar fashion, purchasing a "Large" shirt would adjust the price by $10.00 and the weight by "2" units. The result on the user end would be this:

Volume Pricing

Volume pricing allows you to specify discounts for purchasing items in bulk. More information on volume pricing is available by clicking here.

Terms

Zenbership allows you to require that a user purchasing a product agree to terms for that product before making a purchase. Terms are cumulative, meaning that if you have two products with different terms, and a user has both products in their cart, he/she will have to agree to both sets of terms before completing a purchase.

Dependencies

Dependencies allow you to require that a user complete a "Dependency Form" at the time of purchase. Dependency forms are linked directly to the member or contact who is making the purchase and can be reviewed from the "Data" tab of the member or contact slider.

Media

Images can be uploaded that appear within both the store front and on receipt emails. These images are split into two different categories: thumbnail (limited to 1), and "Additional Photos", which appear below the primary thumbnail image on the product page (see the screen shot above under the "Options" section of this page).

The program will automatically resize media to fit into your store front. You can customize the width of the resized images from:

  • "Shop > Options"
  • For thumbnails in store listings, input your desired width, in pixels, in the "Image Size" setting.
  • For the large image on the "View Product" page, input your desired width, in pixels, into the "Shop Large Image Size" setting.
  • For the small images on the "View Product" page, input your desired with, in pixels, into the "Thumbnail Size
" setting.

Content Access

When a member purchases a product, you can tell the program to grant access to specific content following a successful purchase. Note that this only works for members who are logged into their membership account. Click here for more information on granting access to content.

Upsell

Upselling is a feature that "links" products together, meaning that if a user adds one product into their cart, the product will suggest/recommend additional products that may be of interest to the user.

In the above example, when a user adds the "Shirt" product into their cart, a popup will appear prompting them to also add the "Jeans" product. Then, at checkout, the user will be prompted to also add the "Cargo Pants" product into their cart.

Featured Products

Featured products have two distinctions within the store front:

  1. They are highlighted with special styling (CSS class "zen_featured_product").
  2. They are used by the "Feature Products Box" widget.

The "Feature Products Box" randomly rotates and selects a featured product and displays it wherever you choose to use the widget. Click here to view how featured product render within the store front.
